VOTING IN TEXAS

Important Dates


  • Oct. 3: Voting registration ends. Everyone must be registered to vote in order to be able to cast a vote. Voter Registration form can be found here

  • Oct. 13: Early voting starts

  • Oct 23: Last day to request voting by mail

  • Oct. 30: Early voting ends


  • Nov. 3: Voting by mail must be postmarked or received on this date


How do you know if you are eligible for voting by mail: (Also known as Absentee)

  1. be 65 years or older;

  2. be disabled;

  3. be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; (Students who stay in dorms) or

  4. be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.

If you meet any of these requirements, do this:

  1. Print and fill out the ABBM (Application for Ballot By Mail) form here: Link.

  2. Print the document, fill out sections 1 to 8. Date and sign section 10. If somebody fills it out for you, then they must complete section 11.

  3. Put it in an envelope, and add postage. Your county address can be found here.

  4. Send by mail. You can also email or fax it. Most counties have one. Use the link above to see if your early voting clerk has one. However, if you email or fax, you must also send it by mail and it has to be received by the 4th business day that the original one was emailed or faxed.

OR

  1. Submit an order online for an ABBM to be sent to your home. Form can be found here

  2. Fill out sections 1 to 8. Date and sign section 10. If somebody fills it out for you, then they must complete section 11.

  3. Fold the application in half, moisten top tab, seal in the envelope that it was sent with and add postage. Your county address can be found here.

  4. Send by mail. You can also email or fax it. Most counties have one. Use the link above to see if your early voting clerk has one. However, if you email or fax, you must also send it by mail and it has to be received by the 4th business day that the original one was emailed or faxed.


  • Nov. 3: Election Day

  1. Voting locations can be found by searching for “polling Place near me”. More information to come.

  2. What do I need to take with me to go vote?
